Prof. Frauke von Versen-Höynck, MSc is an Associate Prof. and physician-scientist board-certified in Germany in Obstetrics & Gynecology with a sub-specialization and board-certification in Gynecologic Endocrinology and Reproductive Medicine. She graduated from Humboldt University in Berlin as a M.D. in 2001 and obtained her doctoral degree in fetal membrane research in 2003.She started her residency training in Ob/Gyn at the University hospital in Aachen. During a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh she was heavily involved in preeclampsia research and afterwards established a research group with focus on preeclampsia pathophysiology in Hannover, Germany. Projects examine the role of vitamin D and the effect of hypoxic conditions on placental development. Another focus is on the role of endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) in pregnancy and pregnancy complications. She finished residency and a fellowship in Gynecologic Endocrinology and Reproductive Medicine at Hannover Medical School in 2014. Recently, as a Visiting Associate Prof. she was involved in a collaborative project at Stanford University, USA looking at the impact of corpus luteum number at conception on pregnancy outcome, preeclampsia risk and maternal vascular health for which she was awarded a prestigious Heisenberg-Fellowship by the German Research Foundation.
